Bibles, Bikes & Burning

This morning a few of our team members traveled to the city of Cuttack which is north of Bhubaneswar to participate in the final session of the Pastor training conference conducted by Dr. Everett Berry. We also had the privilege of distributing both children & adult bibles printed in the Oriya language (used within the state of Orissa) to the pastors & church planters who were involved in the theological training. We also provided new bicycles to several of the church planters who are working in geographically dispersed regions of Orissa.

Two couples on our trip worked to raise funds specifically for the bibles over the past several months. We used the Bible Society of India to supply these bibles and deliver them to the United Theological School on Saturday.

Four of the pastors present at the conference had been victimized by the extremist violence in the Kandhamal district of Orissa on Christmas Eve. Their prayer halls, church furniture and bibles were burned in the attacks. It was gratifying to supply them with an extra portion of bibles for their congregations.
